Here's some photos of when we were on our first vacation in Ohio after I had recovered from the injuries from the bike/atv crash, and could ride a bicycle again. After arriving, I called the Wayne Township Fire Department, and asked when there would be someone at the station so I could bring a thank-you card for the fire department and first responders.

We ended up driving there to meet the whole crew, and spent some quality time with them. It was a really enjoyable and rewarding time for me to be able to thank them for taking care of me, getting me ready for the helicopter ride the the hospital.

They were the ones who performed the very first stage of saving my life and getting me on the way towards getting so many severe injuries treated, and on the long road to recovery. I was really banged up, and if not their prompt response, and the proper training and skills, I might not have not made it through nearly as well as I have.

I remember feeling like I got the VIP tour of the fire department. I remember one of the crew saying that everyone agreed that I looked much better vertical than horizontal! I just felt great to meet all these people who I consider to be my personal heroes. It's an afternoon I will never forget.

I asked Jeff to read the thank you card aloud to the whole crew, and of course, I had to show them my new bike! I got it out of our truck and showed them how easily I can get on the bike and ride again, all thanks to a lot of help from great people!

Thanks so much again to the whole Wayne Township Fire Department for being there for me when I really needed your help. I will never forget you!

Thanks to Allison Lyons for taking pictures with both her camera and ours of my wife and I with the crew. Here are the photos:
